Wellspring Niagara
Fulfilling the dream of Aldo Mantini, who lost his life to cancer at age 31, and inspired many in his community to work together to bring this type of supportive care to Niagara, the Wellspring Niagara cancer support centre offers a wide range of free cancer support programs and services to meet the emotional, social, psychological and informational needs of people living with cancer, and those who care for them.
As the only cancer support centre in the Niagara Region, Wellspring Niagara offers 23 various types of programs and services ranging from one-on-one peer support, support groups, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Art Therapy, Body-Mind Mediation, Drumming and Quilting, just to name a few. We are also the official Niagara host of the Look Good Feel Better™ program, the New Voice Club (a support group for laryngectomy patients and their families and most recently partnered with the Niagara Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada to provide a Brain Tumour Support Group in Niagara. Wellspring Niagara opened it doors on June 4, 2001 and since then has registered nearly 16,000 program attendances from men, women and children living with cancer in the Niagara. Over 1,200 registered members from across the Niagara Region have made use of our programs and over 125 trained volunteers offer their time and talents to help meet the needs of Wellspring Niagara's growing membership.
As a not-for-profit charitable organization, Wellspring Niagara receives no government or core funding and relies solely on the financial support of the community it serves.
